A man is facing multiple charges after a pet dog was killed and his vehicle set ablaze during a drive-by shooting, authorities said Friday.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said 32-year-old Mark Cramer, who has been arrested, is charged with two counts of felony murder, three counts of arson and five counts of cruelty to animals.
Authorities said Cramer set fire to the car and vehicle’s passenger side and vehicle trunk in an attempt to start the vehicle’s engine.
The deputy who shot and killed the dog and the two deputies who responded to the scene, as well as the occupants of the vehicle, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities say Cramer and the woman, who was a passenger, fled the scene.
The deputies who were shot, identified as Joshua Deleon and Michael Johnson, were placed on administrative leave.
