A man died Saturday after a pickup truck he was riding in struck a tree in the south suburban city of Rockford, police said.
It was the first time police have confirmed a person died in a collision involving a truck.
The driver of the truck was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to Chicago Police.
No other details were immediately available.
Police said they did not have a suspect in custody.
The collision happened about 5:20 p.n. at Highway 50 and Highway 90, near a highway exit ramp, Rockford police Capt. John LaSalle said.
He did not release any other details.
