Two-year-old Tamatah Taimia died in Karikota after he was hit by a vehicle on Tuesday.
Tamatah’s father, Naveen Taimias, said he had been in contact with his son’s mother, a police officer, who was at work at the time.
“She was not here.
She was in her office at the moment and he had just come home from work,” he said.
He said Tamatia had been staying with the family for the past few days and that the family was “not happy”.
“He was playing with the baby, so I’m sure he was playing on the beach with the other children.
We don’t know anything about his death.
The police are investigating what happened.
They don’t want to talk to the media.”
Tamatias death comes just days after another two-year old girl was killed on a highway in Karamla.
FourFourTwo understands that a police investigation has been launched.
Police said the girl, who had gone to her home to change clothes, was hit in the head by a car travelling at 30kmh.
She was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died on Tuesday afternoon.
A man, who is also a police official, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Another police official said a man was also taken into custody on suspicion he was responsible for Tamatias killing.
Karakoramas Road was closed from 12:00pm on Tuesday due to a police cordon and a road block.
There was a large police presence on the highway after the incident.
Authorities have set up a crime scene in the town of Karikotai.
