LAS VEGAS — A man was killed and two others were injured Saturday morning when a pickup truck slammed into a median and overturned on Interstate 40 in north Las Vegas.
The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 40 and the Interstate 20 overpass in a neighborhood on the south side of the interstate, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
A pickup truck traveling southbound on the interstate hit the rear of a southbound car before hitting the median, the agency said.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver was not hurt.
The southbound southbound Interstate 40 overpass was closed from Las Vegas Boulevard to Las Vegas Street, and a temporary lane was also closed to traffic in both directions at the Las Vegas-Mesa International Airport.
Traffic was being diverted to other lanes of the highway.
The driver of the pickup truck, 52-year-old Daniel H. Jones of Mesquite, Nevada, had two minor injuries, according for the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.

The truck driver, 48-year old James E. Jones, of Las Vegas, Nevada and the passenger, 49-year, of Mesquatch, Nevada were taken to a hospital with minor injuries and are expected to survive, according the sheriff’s office.
